Cheesestick are yummy!

In today's economy, parents are looking for imaginative ways to spend time with their children and make lasting memories without putting a dent in their wallets. Combining a dash of creativity with a common family favorite - string cheese - is a surprisingly simple solution.

Whether it's creating art or cooking together, the entire family can enjoy a broad range of activities that involve string cheese.

For families with younger children, consider activities that allow for artistic expression. You can use string cheese and other items from the kitchen to create food art. Design an edible centerpiece for the dinner table, create a string cheese octopus, or make some fun jewelry you can eat when you're done. The choices are only limited by the imagination.

Cooking is a another great opportunity to spend time together, talk, teach an important life skill and, if you're really creative, even sneak in some math (measuring, equivalents, etc.).

For some lighter fare, try mixing pieces of string cheese with fruit on a skewer to make a tasty kabob. Or, try Little Italy Mozzarella Sticks, featuring new Borden(r) Pizza String Cheese, which is now available in select Walmart stores. Made by a cooperative that is 100 percent farmer-owned, Borden Pizza String Cheese combines the great taste of pizza with the convenience of string cheese.

Homemade pizza is another fun way to bring the whole family together in the kitchen, and string cheese is perfect for creating a stuffed crust pizza. Just line the edge of the dough with string cheese and then roll the crust around the cheese. Add your favorite sauce, toppings and more cheese, bake, and you've got a tasty dinner or snack.

Little Italy Mozzarella Sticks
