American River Conservancy (ARC) Big Day of Giving 2019

For the last 30 years, American River Conservancy (ARC) has preserved over 26,000 acres of important river - front lands, endangered species habitat, recreational lands and open space to help save the best places in our region before they are lost forever. Who benefits from our work? The answer is, quite simply, every single one of the 23 million Californians who drink water that originates in the Sierra Nevada as well as the hundreds of thousands of annual visitors and residents who enjoy the trails at Cronan Ranch and whitewater rafting on the South Fork American River. Chances are you are one of these people, too.

Big Day of Giving is Thursday, May 2, from midnight to midnight. Donors can give at www.bigdayofgiving.org /ARConservancy  A generous matching gift of $14,000 was recently made to ARC to launch our capital campaign In 2019. ARC’s top goal is to protect the 1,737 - acre Ervin Ranch on the Cosumnes River. This land will become a Wildlife Area instead of a housing development, protecting spawning habitat for wild Chinook salmon and some of the most beautiful riparian and oak woodland habitat in El Dorado County. In the next year we also hope to permanently preserve the 972 - acre Lewis Ranch on Greenwood Creek, restore and enhance an additional 400 acres of forest, meadow and riparian habitat, clean up over 20 miles of river and stream, and monitor water quality at 21 sites across the Cosumnes River watershed. Our multi - generational education programs will reach over 1,000 people, inspiring a love and appreciation for nature in all who participate.
