Cedar Springs Waldorf School Presents Third Annual Taste of the Foothills

PLACERVILLE –What better way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon this fall than enjoying good local wine, food and art?

Join Cedar Springs Waldorf School in celebrating creativity, cuisine and wine at the 3rd Annual Taste of the Foothills on Sunday, October 20th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Smith Flat House in Placerville.  Attendees will enjoy samples of the region’s finest fare paired with exquisite El Dorado County wines while strolling through displays of work by local artisans for purchase.

“This is a premier event with selections of the best wine, food and art from our local community,” said Jennifer Bumgarner of Bumgarner Winery who is also a parent at the school and one of the coordinators of the event.

At the event, an excellent selection of local wines from winemakers and vineyards such as Boeger Winery, Bumgarner Winery, Cantiga Wineworks, Crystal Basin Cellars, Jodar Winery, Madroña Vineyards, and Shadow Ranch Vineyard will be available to taste.  Placerville Brewing Company will be pouring samples of their handcrafted microbrews.

Epicurean delights from local restaurants such as Allez!, Annabelle's Chocolates, Crystal Basin Bistro, HeyDay Café, Schaft's Cheese and Smith Flat Restaurant will complement the experience.  A solo live acoustic music will be presented by CSWS Dad and band member, Adam Beasley, of Born Barefoot and Uncommon Ground.

The Courtyard at the Smith Flat House will be a stunning backdrop for artists and craft makers to display their exceptional handcrafted wares.  Local artisans Annette MacBean (Wonderwul – felted art),  Cindy Stephens (sculptor), Crowley Ranch and Crowley & Co (alpaca wool products and photography), Kimari Patterson (Maizy Chain – jewlelry, soy candles and more), Lexi Boeger (Pluckyfluff – handspun wool and creations), Oran Miller (artist) and Sonya Bates (Generation Peace – children’s upcycled clothing) will have their works displayed and available for purchase.

A Taste of the Foothills benefits the students, teachers and programs at Cedar Springs Waldorf School (CSWS), which is an independently funded Pre-kindergarten through 8th Grade School located in Placerville.  Founded in 1989, CSWS provides financial support to families who qualify so their children can attend the school.

"We want to make sure we can provide this opportunity to all children and families who value Waldorf education, and we invite everyone to attend this delicious, artistic fundraiser for our school," stated Lynn Morgan, Director of Community Development for Cedar Springs.

A raffle benefiting CSWS will give event goers an opportunity to take home high quality items donated by participating wineries, restaurants and artists.   Additional donated items will be featured at the school’s booth alongside sample work by CSWS students.  Handmade artwork by the CSWS 8th Grade will also be available for purchase at the event.
